BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – An Irish national was found dead inside a villa room in Kerobokan, North Kuta, Badung, on Friday (April 24), after staff became concerned when the guest failed to check out on time.
The victim, identified by initials DAM (36), had been staying at the villa for a holiday. His body was discovered following a routine check by staff after he did not respond past the scheduled check-out time at 11:00 WITA.
According to police, the situation raised concern when the guest had not been seen leaving his room by 12:00 WITA, despite staff waiting nearby.
Earlier, on Thursday evening (April 23), the victim was last seen entering the villa at around 19:00 WITA after asking staff about check-out procedures. He was not seen again afterward.
Police spokesperson Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti said staff used a spare key to enter the room after receiving no response.
“When the guest did not appear after check-out time, staff decided to check the room using a spare key,” she said on Saturday (April 25).
Initial checks on the ground floor found no one, prompting staff to continue searching upstairs. They then discovered a note attached to a door that read, “Do not enter, there is a person dead inside, please call the police.”
Upon seeing the message, staff immediately contacted authorities.
Police officers arrived shortly after and conducted a crime scene investigation. The body was later evacuated at around 16:15 WITA to Prof. Ngoerah Hospital in Denpasar using a Badung disaster management ambulance.
“No signs of violence were found on the victim’s body,” Aiptu Ayu confirmed.
Authorities are continuing further examination to determine the cause of death.
