BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Police in Bali’s Badung Regency issued traffic violations to dozens of motorists, including 38 foreign nationals, during a traffic enforcement operation at the Tiying Tutul intersection in Mengwi on Saturday night (May 9, 2026).

The operation was carried out by Badung Police from 17:00 to 20:30 WITA as part of efforts to prevent street crime and improve traffic discipline in one of the busy transit areas connecting Canggu and western Badung.

PS Kasubsipenmas of Badung Police Public Relations Unit, Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, said the operation targeted traffic violations as well as potential street crimes, including theft, motorcycle theft, robbery, and narcotics circulation.

“The operation focused on vehicle inspections, document checks, and enforcement against modified exhausts. Traffic violations were handled according to applicable regulations,” she said on Monday (May 11, 2026).

The operation was led directly by Badung Police Chief AKBP Joseph Edward Purba, who also reminded officers to follow standard operating procedures during field enforcement activities.

During the inspection, police stopped motorists one by one to check driving licenses, vehicle registration documents, and motorcycle conditions.

Authorities issued 28 traffic tickets in total, consisting of 18 foreign nationals and 10 Indonesian citizens. Meanwhile, written warnings were given to 58 additional violators, including 30 foreigners and 28 Indonesians.

The violations included riding without a driving license, missing vehicle registration papers, absent license plates, and the use of loud modified exhaust systems.

Police also confiscated 22 motorcycles, five vehicle registration certificates (STNK), and two driving licenses during the operation.

According to police, the enforcement activity was conducted to maintain public order and road safety in the Badung area, which remains one of Bali’s busiest tourism corridors.

“This operation was carried out to anticipate street crime and improve traffic order in order to maintain a safe and conducive public security situation in the Badung Police jurisdiction,” Ayu added.

Authorities stated that similar operations will continue in areas considered prone to traffic violations and public disturbances.
