GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Police in Sukawati District, Gianyar Regency, have intensified security patrols around major tourism areas, including Tegenungan Waterfall in Kemenuh Village, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain public order and visitor safety.
The patrol operation was carried out under the Enhanced Routine Activity program, locally known as KRYD, which focuses on preventive security measures in crowded public areas and tourist destinations.
The patrol at Tegenungan Waterfall was led by supervising officer Iptu I Nyoman Dana alongside senior officer Aiptu I Made Sutama and five Sukawati Police personnel.
During the operation, officers interacted directly with local residents, domestic tourists, and foreign visitors while delivering public safety reminders and security information.
“This patrol aims to provide a real sense of safety and comfort for visitors. It is also part of our mitigation efforts to anticipate potential security disturbances such as thuggery, pickpocketing, and the presence of beggars or homeless individuals,” Iptu Dana said during the activity.
Separately, Sukawati Police Chief Kompol I Nyoman Wiranata stated on Sunday (24/5) that the KRYD program reflects the police department’s commitment to keeping the Sukawati area safe and conducive, especially as the district remains one of Gianyar’s key tourism centers.
“Through this dialogic patrol approach, our personnel encourage all members of the community to take part in maintaining environmental security. We urge residents and tourism operators to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station,” he said.
He added that visible police presence in busy tourism areas is expected to create a deterrent effect against criminal activity while increasing the sense of security among tourists.
According to police monitoring during the patrol, officers did not find any criminal activity, acts of thuggery, or disturbances caused by homeless individuals in the Tegenungan Waterfall area.
Authorities reported that the overall situation at the tourist site remained safe, orderly, and conducive throughout the operation.
