DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – An 80-year-old Australian national was found dead inside a villa in Sanur, Bali, on Thursday (July 16), with police saying there were no signs of violence and the death is believed to have been caused by a medical condition.
The victim, identified by the initials PA, was discovered at a villa on Jalan Kesari in Sanur, South Denpasar.
According to South Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit officer Iptu Azel Arizandi, the victim had been alone at the accommodation after his wife, identified by the initials SNS, 68, left the villa for a walk at around 9:30 a.m. WITA.
She returned at approximately 11:30 a.m. WITA and initially went into the room to watch television. A short time later, she realized her husband was nowhere to be seen.
After calling out to him several times without receiving a response, she checked the bathroom area and found him lying face-up on the floor in front of the bathroom.
Shocked by the discovery, she immediately contacted a friend, identified by the initials CR, who arrived at the villa shortly afterward.
“The incident was then reported to police through the 110 emergency call center. After receiving the report, officers immediately responded to the scene,” Arizandi said on Friday (July 17).
Police conducted an examination of the scene and found no evidence of physical violence or signs of foul play.
Investigators also found several types of medication inside the victim’s room, supporting the preliminary assessment that the death may have been related to an existing health condition.
At approximately 3:43 p.m. WITA, the body was transported by a Denpasar Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) ambulance to Prof. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar for further examination.
Authorities are continuing the administrative process, but based on the initial investigation, the death is believed to have resulted from natural causes.
