KLUNGKUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A restaurant building at The Jingga Villas in Nusa Lembongan, Bali, was destroyed in an early morning fire on Wednesday (July 22), with police suspecting an electrical short circuit as the cause.
The fire broke out at around 12:30 a.m. WITA in The Jingga Villas, located in Lembongan Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency.
According to Klungkung Police spokesperson Made Nyoman Alit Purnawibawa, no injuries or fatalities were reported. However, the blaze caused an estimated IDR 200 million in property damage.
“There were no casualties in the incident. Material losses are estimated at around IDR 200 million,” Alit said.
The fire was first reported to the restaurant owner, I Ketut Supira, 52, who was resting at his home in Kelod Hamlet when local residents called to inform him that his business was on fire.
Upon arriving at the property, Supira found the flames had already engulfed much of the restaurant.
Authorities said the building’s roof, which was constructed from dry thatch, allowed the fire to spread rapidly, destroying the entire roof structure.
Officers from the Lembongan Police Subsector and local residents immediately worked together to extinguish the blaze using manual firefighting methods.
After approximately 90 minutes of firefighting efforts, the fire was fully brought under control at around 2:00 a.m. WITA.
Police from Nusa Penida Police Station later secured the scene, interviewed witnesses, and launched an initial investigation.
“Based on our preliminary examination, the fire is strongly suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit within the building’s wiring system,” Alit said.
The investigation remains ongoing, although authorities believe the incident was accidental.
