BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A foreign national identified by the initials RY, 24, was found dead inside a villa in North Kuta, Badung, Bali, on Saturday night (August 29). Police are investigating the circumstances of the death after finding white powder mixed with blood around the victim’s mouth.
The incident occurred at a villa on Jalan Taman Mertanadi, Taman neighborhood, Kerobokan Kelod Village. Police later secured 50 packets containing a white powder from the victim’s room and sent the material to the Bali Police Forensic Laboratory for testing.
North Kuta Police public information officer Aiptu I Wayan Seloka said the victim was last seen at around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.
According to the villa’s security officer, identified as NGA, 40, the victim had not been seen leaving the room during the day. NGA contacted RY by text message but received no response.
At around 8:00 p.m., the villa manager, identified as NR, asked NGA to check on the victim. After knocking on the door without receiving an answer, NGA contacted a local traditional security officer, known as a pecalang, for assistance.
“The room was opened using a duplicate key. When the door was opened, the victim was found lying on the bed with his body already stiff. The pecalang then contacted the police for further handling,” Seloka said.
Police officers from North Kuta Police, the Badung Police identification team and medical personnel from the North Kuta Community Health Center subsequently examined the scene.
Medical personnel found the victim’s body already stiff, with signs of livor mortis and no light reflex in the eyes. White powder mixed with blood was found around his mouth. The initial examination estimated that he had been dead for more than five hours before being discovered.
The Badung Police identification team found no visible signs of physical violence on the body. The room, however, was reportedly in a disorderly condition.
Investigators secured several items from the room, including two adjustable wrenches, two sets of Allen keys, a blender, an electronic scale, a hydraulic press, a plastic vacuum-sealing machine, 18 bottles of supplements and a flour strainer.
Two suitcases were also examined. One contained 24 plastic packets filled with white powder, while the second contained another 26 packets.
“All of the items found have been secured by the Badung Police Narcotics Unit for further examination and laboratory testing,” Seloka said.
The white powder has not yet been identified, and authorities have not confirmed whether it was an illegal substance.
Following the initial investigation, RY’s body was transported to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar for further examination.
Police are continuing their investigation, including laboratory testing, to determine the substance found at the scene and establish the cause of the victim’s death.
