DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – An Australian national has been reported to police following an alleged assault in a residential area of South Denpasar, after a dispute escalated into physical violence.

The incident, which later circulated on social media, involved a suspect identified as TD and a local resident with initials DI (56). The case has been officially reported to South Denpasar Police.

According to Criminal Investigation Unit officer Iptu Azel Arizandi, the sequence of events began earlier in the week, on Monday (April 13, 2026), when the suspect first came to the victim’s home on Jalan Tukad Unda IV, Panjer.

“The suspect initially came and knocked on the door, but left when there was no response,” Azel said on Friday (April 17).

About an hour later, the suspect returned and entered the house, sitting in the living room while smoking. He reportedly asked the victim to go outside, which was refused, and was then asked to leave.

The situation escalated further when the suspect returned again, accusing the victim of stealing his wristwatch. The victim and family members denied the accusation.

At around 11:50 WITA, the suspect came back accompanied by a woman and a child, reportedly pretending to deliver a package to gain entry.

“When the door was opened, the suspect immediately assaulted the victim, grabbing his leg and threatening to break it while accusing him of theft,” Azel explained.

The victim shouted for help, prompting neighbors to intervene. When asked for evidence of the alleged theft, the suspect admitted he had none and later left the scene.

A mediation attempt was conducted with local community representatives, during which the suspect reportedly agreed not to return. However, the victim proceeded to file a formal police report on Thursday (April 16).

Police confirmed that the case is under investigation, and a summons will be issued to the suspect.

“If the suspect fails to respond to two summons, further legal measures will be taken,” Azel added.

Authorities are continuing the process in accordance with Indonesian law.
