DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – An Australian national was found dead in a hotel room in Sanur, South Denpasar, on Tuesday evening (April 14, 2026), with initial findings indicating no signs of violence.

The victim, identified by initials GKA (70), was discovered at around 18:30 WITA after hotel staff were alerted that he had not responded to calls since the morning.

South Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit officer Iptu Azel Arisandi confirmed the incident and said preliminary checks at the scene did not reveal any indications of foul play.

“For now, the initial suspicion is that the victim died due to illness,” he said on Wednesday (April 15).

The situation began when a hotel front office staff member received a WhatsApp message from a colleague of the victim requesting assistance to check the room after being unable to contact him.

After multiple attempts to call and knock on the door without response, staff contacted hotel security. The room door was locked from the inside, preventing entry even with a master key, prompting technicians to forcibly open it.

Once inside, the victim was found lying on the bed with eyes open and covered by a blanket. Despite repeated attempts to wake him, there was no response.

Hotel management then notified the police, and a forensic team from Denpasar Police arrived at approximately 19:30 WITA to conduct a scene investigation.

Police reported that the victim was found lying on his left side, with his head facing west, both hands placed on his chest, and legs extended. He was wearing black shorts and no shirt.

Officers confirmed there were no visible signs of physical violence on the body.

Several items were also found in the room, including multiple medications such as inhalers, Lyrica, Calcium Lactate, Meloxicam, Endone, Panamex, Nettoblastin, and Prodine.

The body was later evacuated by Denpasar Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) at around 20:15 WITA to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital for further examination.

The scene has been secured by police for ongoing investigation, although early indications point to a natural cause of death.
