BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A fire damaged Villa The Angkasa in Jimbaran, South Kuta, on Monday afternoon (May 11, 2026), with preliminary investigations pointing to a suspected electrical short circuit as the cause.
The fire broke out at around 16:40 WITA at the villa located on Jalan Binginsari, Jimbaran, in Bali’s Badung Regency.
South Kuta Police Chief AKP Muhammad Bhayangkara Putra Sejati said a villa security officer, identified as Made Siman, first learned about the incident after nearby residents noticed smoke coming from the property.
Siman immediately checked the building and found flames already spreading in the northern section of the villa’s living room area.
“The witness, together with local residents and villa staff, initially tried to extinguish the fire using fire extinguishers and water. However, the flames quickly grew because the roof used thatched alang-alang material, which is highly flammable,” he explained on Tuesday (May 13, 2026).
Several minutes later, seven fire trucks from the Badung Fire Department and ITDC emergency units arrived at the scene to contain the blaze and carry out cooling operations.
The fire damaged multiple parts of the property, including the living room, dining room, kitchen, office area, and staff quarters.
Authorities said numerous household and hospitality items were destroyed in the fire, including sofas, wooden tables, refrigerators, ovens, stoves, dishwashing equipment, electronic devices, air conditioning units, and washing machines.
No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
Police estimated total losses from the fire at around IDR 500 million.
South Kuta Police officers have visited the scene, questioned witnesses, and continued collecting information related to the incident as part of the ongoing investigation.
