BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A foreign national driving a luxury vehicle crashed into the staircase of a bar in Bali’s popular Berawa area early Sunday morning (May 10, 2026), triggering tension at the scene before the matter was eventually resolved amicably.
The incident occurred on Jalan Pantai Berawa in Tibubeneng Village, North Kuta, at around 02:30 WITA.
Badung Police Public Relations officer Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti confirmed the incident on Monday (May 11, 2026), saying traffic police officers responded shortly after receiving a report through the 110 emergency call center.
“A quick response was carried out by the Badung Traffic Police after receiving the report,” she said.
According to police, the luxury car driven by a foreign national identified by the initials AAE (38) was traveling from the western direction before reaching the Tibubeneng field intersection.
Police said the vehicle was moving at high speed before crashing into the outer staircase of a nearby bar.
Traffic accident investigators later conducted a scene examination and questioned witnesses at the location.
“This traffic accident case was resolved amicably between the parties involved,” Ayu stated.
Information gathered at the scene indicated the driver was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, although police did not officially confirm intoxication.
Witness accounts suggested the driver panicked after a motorcyclist crossed the road ahead of the vehicle. Instead of braking, the driver allegedly pressed the accelerator pedal, causing the car to swerve and strike the staircase.
The incident quickly spread on social media after videos and photos from the scene circulated online.
No serious injuries were reported in the crash, though the incident briefly drew a crowd and created tension at the location before police intervened.
