BULELENG, DEWATA.NEWS – Two foreign nationals were involved in a traffic accident on the Seririt–Singaraja highway in Buleleng Regency after a Toyota Avanza collided with a truck in Kalianget Village, Seririt District, on Tuesday (2/6/2026) afternoon.

The accident occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. local time and involved a Toyota Avanza with registration number DK 1213 QG and a truck bearing registration number L 8934 AAA.

Buleleng Police spokesperson Iptu Yohana Rosalin Diaz said the collision happened when the Avanza driver, identified as I Made Mahendra, 56, attempted to overtake the truck while traveling along the Seririt–Singaraja route.

“The Avanza driver was attempting to overtake the truck in front of him. At the same time, a vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction, causing the driver to steer left and strike the middle right side of the truck,” Yohana explained.

Among the passengers inside the Avanza were two foreign nationals from Russia and Germany.

A Russian passenger identified as Stenpoba, 31, sustained minor abrasions to the left side of his forehead. He remained conscious following the incident and received treatment at Pratama Tangguwisia Hospital in Seririt.

Meanwhile, German national Constantin Markus Ulrich, 34, was reported unharmed.

Police also confirmed that both vehicle drivers survived the collision without injuries.

According to preliminary findings, investigators suspect the accident occurred because the Avanza driver did not adequately assess oncoming traffic before attempting to overtake.

“The preliminary assessment indicates that the driver did not sufficiently observe traffic coming from the opposite direction while attempting to pass the vehicle ahead, resulting in the collision,” Yohana said.

Authorities are continuing to document the incident as part of the standard traffic accident investigation process.
