TABANAN, DEWATA.NEWS – A Ugandan woman identified by the initials KJ was transferred to the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim Denpasar) after being detained in Banjar Lengudu, Pangkung Tibah Village, Kediri District, Tabanan, on Monday night (September 7).
The transfer was carried out by the Tabanan Immigration Office on Wednesday (September 9), following an initial examination in which KJ was unable to show travel documents or provide verifiable information about her place of residence.
The case began after the Tabanan Police received a report through Indonesia’s 110 police call center at around 11:49 p.m. WITA on Monday. Officers went to the reported location and found KJ near a resident’s house. She was subsequently secured by a local Pecalang and taken to Tabanan Police headquarters for further examination.
Because KJ is a foreign national, Tabanan Police coordinated with the Tabanan Immigration Office. Immigration officers from the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Division then went to the police station to examine her identity and immigration documents.
Merry Yolanda Baransano, Head of the Information Technology, Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Subsection at the Tabanan Immigration Office, said KJ was found to be unable to present travel documents or provide a verifiable address.
“She was found in a confused state. Based on information obtained by officers, the condition was suspected to be related to psychological pressure arising from personal relationship issues,” Merry said.
Tabanan Police subsequently submitted a deportation recommendation to the Tabanan Immigration Office following the public report concerning alleged conduct considered disruptive to public order and security.
Following coordination and the initial examination, Tabanan Immigration transferred KJ to Rudenim Denpasar for detention and further immigration procedures in accordance with Indonesian regulations.
Immigration officers arrived at Rudenim Denpasar at around 11 a.m. Wednesday and formally handed KJ over to the detention center for the next stage of the immigration process and documentation.
The Tabanan Immigration Office said it would continue strengthening supervision of foreign nationals and their activities in Tabanan. The office also highlighted coordination between immigration authorities, police, Pecalang and other relevant parties in maintaining security and public order.
Immigration officials said all enforcement measures would continue to be carried out professionally and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
