DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – The Denpasar City Police have stepped up security checks on passengers and goods entering and leaving Bali through Benoa Port and Sanur Port as part of efforts to prevent the smuggling of illegal items via sea routes.
The head of public relations for Denpasar Police, Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, said the operation involves intensified inspections as well as increased patrols around both ports, which are considered key maritime access points to the island.
“Through the Water and Air Police Unit (Satpolairud), we continue to strengthen supervision and security in coastal waters and ports within the Denpasar Police jurisdiction,” Saputra Jaya said when confirmed on Tuesday afternoon (January 13).
He explained that maritime routes carry a higher risk of illegal activities, making consistent and strict monitoring necessary. To enhance security measures, Denpasar Police are also coordinating closely with the port authority (Syahbandar) and other related agencies to conduct integrated inspections.
“This cross-agency coordination is aimed at preventing the entry or exit of people and prohibited goods through sea routes,” he said.
Saputra Jaya also encouraged the public to take an active role by reporting any suspected smuggling activities via maritime channels. He assured that all reports would be followed up in accordance with established procedures.
“We are committed to maintaining security in our coastal areas and preventing smuggling crimes that could disrupt public order and safety within the Denpasar Police jurisdiction,” he added.
