BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Police in Bali have begun monitoring data on foreign nationals staying in the province through a centralized application called Cakrawasi, a move aimed at improving tracking and preventing public order disturbances involving foreign visitors.
Badung Police Chief Joseph Edward Purba said the application is managed by Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali) and has been introduced to hotel operators and accommodation providers across Badung Regency. The system has been in active use since December 2025.
“The Cakrawasi application is managed by Polda Bali. Over the past one to two months, it has been socialized and implemented. As of now, thousands of foreign nationals have been centrally and systematically recorded in the application,” Joseph said at Badung Police headquarters on Tuesday (January 20).
Under the system, accommodation providers are required to submit basic data on foreign guests, including identity details and length of stay. The data is then uploaded by police officers into the Cakrawasi platform.
Joseph said the data collection allows police to coordinate more effectively with Immigration authorities if a foreign national becomes involved in public disturbances or criminal cases, including monitoring movements at airports and accommodation facilities.
“At airports, hotels, guest houses, safe houses, and other residences, our field officers coordinate regularly to update visitor data, especially foreign nationals. This information is then uploaded into the Cakrawasi application,” he said.
He added that cooperation from accommodation businesses is considered essential to maintaining public security in Badung, noting that recent public order incidents have involved foreign nationals.
“This is an obligation for business operators and also a form of support for law enforcement in maintaining security and public order in Badung,” Joseph said.
Addressing privacy concerns, Joseph emphasized that the police are not monitoring tourists’ personal activities during their stay. He said the system only records accommodation-related data and duration of stay, based on agreements with accommodation providers and under the supervision of Polda Bali.
“So far, there is no privacy violation. We only receive guest data, upload it, and know how long someone stays in a particular area,” he said. “We do not monitor the specific activities of foreign visitors during their holidays.”
The police said the Cakrawasi system is intended to support preventive security measures while maintaining respect for visitor privacy.
