DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – A British national identified as SL (45), previously arrested at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, is scheduled for deportation to Spain on Wednesday (April 1, 2026), authorities confirmed.
The suspect was detained on Saturday (March 28, 2026) at 11:58 WITA shortly after arriving at the international arrivals terminal. He is listed on an Interpol red notice issued by Spanish authorities and is suspected of leading a criminal network involved in multiple serious offenses across several countries.
Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya stated that the arrest was carried out based on international fugitive tracking systems and coordinated law enforcement efforts.
“If an international fugitive enters Bali, it is our obligation to assist in the arrest. This cooperation works both ways between countries through Interpol,” he said during a press briefing on Wednesday (March 31, 2026).
The operation involved Indonesia’s National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol, the International Relations Division of the National Police, Bali Police, Ngurah Rai Airport Police, and immigration authorities.
According to Bali Police Criminal Investigation Director Senior Commissioner Gede Adhi Mulyawarman, the arrest is part of a wider international operation known as Operasi Armorum. The investigation was initiated by Spain’s Guardia Civil, in collaboration with Police Scotland.
“Through this joint operation, 33 suspects were arrested in Scotland and 12 in Spain,” he explained.
Authorities described SL as a high-profile international fugitive allegedly involved in crimes including murder, drug trafficking, and money laundering across multiple jurisdictions, including Spain, Scotland, the United Kingdom, as well as Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain, and Turkey.
Brigadier General Untung Widyatmoko from NCB Interpol Indonesia confirmed that the arrest followed intelligence sharing between multiple countries.
“We initially received intelligence from NCB Dubai, followed by intensive coordination with Spanish authorities to carry out the arrest,” he said.
The operation began after Indonesian authorities received information from Interpol counterparts in Abu Dhabi regarding the suspect’s travel plans to Indonesia. Security measures were immediately deployed at the airport upon confirmation of his arrival.
The suspect was taken into custody without resistance and is currently under the authority of Indonesian officials pending deportation.
Spanish law enforcement officers from the Guardia Civil are currently in Bali to facilitate the deportation process and ensure a smooth transfer of custody.
This case follows earlier reporting on the arrest of the fugitive upon arrival in Bali, highlighting ongoing international cooperation in tracking and detaining transnational criminal suspects.
