GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Authorities in Ubud carried out a joint operation targeting illegal parking along several busy tourism corridors on Thursday (May 7, 2026), as part of ongoing efforts to reduce traffic congestion in the area.
The enforcement operation focused on Jalan Monkey Forest and Jalan Hanoman in Padangtegal, two of Ubud’s busiest streets frequented by tourists, local businesses, and transport operators.
The operation was conducted between 11:00 and 12:10 WITA by a joint team consisting of Ubud Police, the Gianyar Transportation Agency (Dishub), and Pecalang officers from Padangtegal Traditional Village.
Officers targeted motorcycles and cars parked along road shoulders and traffic lanes, which authorities said frequently contribute to congestion in central Ubud.
Before the operation began, personnel gathered for a briefing at Wantilan Pura Desa/Puseh Padangtegal, where officers were instructed to prioritize a persuasive and human-centered approach while interacting with motorists.
During the operation, officers issued warnings and advisories to drivers violating parking regulations. Authorities also carried out enforcement measures through Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE), issuing 11 electronic traffic tickets consisting of 10 motorcycles and one car.
An additional 20 vehicles received warning stickers.
Ubud Police Chief Commissioner I Wayan Putra Antara said the operation was intended to improve traffic flow and visitor comfort in one of Bali’s most popular tourism destinations.
“This enforcement is aimed at improving traffic flow and providing comfort for both residents and tourists in the Ubud area. We continue to prioritize persuasive and human-centered measures,” he said.
According to police, illegal parking enforcement will continue regularly in coordination with related agencies and traditional village security units to maintain orderly traffic conditions in Ubud.
Authorities said the operation received positive responses from local residents, who consider the effort helpful in reducing congestion in the tourism district.
