BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Police at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport are increasing security measures ahead of Bali’s peak tourism season in July and August, when the island is expected to welcome a surge in domestic and international visitors.

The enhanced security operation aims to prevent conventional crimes, transnational offenses, traffic congestion, and road accidents that could disrupt airport operations during the busy holiday period.

Ngurah Rai Airport Police spokesperson I Gede Suka Artana said higher passenger numbers during the high season typically increase the potential for public security disturbances.

“Every increase in visitor numbers is directly followed by a higher level of potential security risks. Therefore, we cannot let our guard down,” Artana said on Saturday (June 27).

As part of preventive measures, the airport police have intensified patrols throughout the airport complex, including arrival and departure terminals, parking areas, and locations considered vulnerable to criminal activity.

The large-scale patrols involve joint personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and airport aviation security (Avsec).

Police have also strengthened coordination with airport stakeholders, including airport operator Angkasa Pura, airlines, immigration authorities, customs officials, and airport transportation providers.

Additional police officers have been deployed, particularly during peak arrival and departure periods when passenger traffic is at its highest.

Authorities expect the increased security presence to provide a safer and more comfortable environment for travelers while maintaining orderly airport operations throughout the holiday season.

Police also hope the enhanced measures will help maintain a stable public security situation during one of Bali’s busiest tourism periods of the year.

“We encourage both local residents and visitors to help maintain security. If you see or experience anything suspicious, please report it immediately to the nearest officer or through the 110 emergency call center,” Artana said.

With Australia, Europe, and several Asian countries continuing to contribute significant visitor numbers to Bali, airport authorities expect passenger traffic to remain high throughout July and August as the island enters its annual tourism peak.
