BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Authorities in Badung Regency have demolished an illegal concrete structure built on government-owned coastal land at Seseh Beach in Cemagi Village, Mengwi District, Bali.
The demolition was carried out by the Badung Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) on Monday, May 18, 2026, after officials discovered the foundation of a building reportedly intended for a beachfront café project.
Head of Badung Satpol PP I Gusti Agung Ketut Suryanegara confirmed the enforcement action, which involved heavy equipment at the site.
“This enforcement action and demolition this morning were also part of our preventive measures before construction became more extensive. We acted early before it grew larger,” Suryanegara said.
According to information gathered at the location, the concrete structure stretched along an area near Pura Keramat at Seseh Beach. The planned project was reportedly intended to operate under the name Seseh Beach Cafe.
An inspection conducted by the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) found that the structure had been built on land belonging to the Badung Regency Government, located between the temple area and the beachfront.
Officials also received information that the building was planned to function partly as a coastal monitoring post.
Suryanegara stated that the local government has not yet determined any long-term official use for the land.
Authorities are currently focusing on restoring the visual condition of the coastal area by clearing and leveling the remaining demolition materials.
Badung Satpol PP said formal enforcement procedures had been completed before the demolition took place, including issuing warning letters and summoning the developers for clarification.
“We had already visited the site and asked the developers to dismantle the structure independently. They also came to the office for clarification, there was no resistance, and they agreed to the demolition,” said Ida Bagus Ratu, Head of Investigation and Enforcement at Badung Satpol PP.
According to Ratu, the developers reportedly lacked sufficient funds to remove the structure themselves, leading authorities to take over the demolition process.
Representatives from the Badung District Attorney’s Office were also present during the demolition alongside local government officials.
The enforcement action comes amid increased monitoring of coastal development and tourism-related construction projects across Bali, particularly in sensitive beachfront and public land areas.
