DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali’s Immigration Office has detained 62 foreign nationals during a coordinated enforcement operation conducted from April 15 to May 4, 2026, as part of efforts to maintain public order and compliance with immigration laws.
The operation, known as Patroli Dharma Dewata, targeted multiple high-activity areas across Ngurah Rai, Denpasar, and Singaraja. Authorities focused on individuals suspected of overstaying visas, providing false information for visa applications, or engaging in unauthorized activities such as illegal work and unregistered business operations.
Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, stated that the detained individuals are currently undergoing further examination.
“If no criminal element is found during further investigation, we will proceed with deportation,” she said during a press briefing in Denpasar on Tuesday.
She added that cases involving potential criminal offenses will be handed over to the police for further legal action.
According to immigration authorities, all 62 individuals were identified under Article 75 Paragraph 1 of Indonesia’s Immigration Law, which allows administrative action against foreigners considered to pose a risk to public order or who fail to comply with local regulations.
The nationalities of those detained have not been disclosed due to diplomatic considerations.
All individuals are currently being held in immigration detention facilities while investigations continue. In addition to deportation, they may also be subject to entry bans, with the duration determined by the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta.
Authorities stated that the operation was carried out independently by Bali Immigration units and also included educational outreach for minor violations.
Officials emphasized that the enforcement is part of broader efforts to safeguard Bali’s tourism environment and maintain a stable economic and investment climate.
“This patrol helps protect the integrity of Bali’s tourism sector. It reflects our commitment to ensuring that foreign visitors respect local values and contribute positively,” Ratna said.
Immigration monitoring is expected to continue beyond the operation through routine enforcement activities across the island.
