DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Indonesian immigration authorities have launched a dedicated task force in Bali following a surge in violations involving foreign nationals during the first quarter of 2026.

The task force, named Dharma Dewata, was officially deployed by the Directorate General of Immigration to strengthen monitoring and enforcement across the island, particularly in areas with high concentrations of international visitors.

Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko said the initiative was introduced in response to a growing number of immigration-related offenses.

“This is not just a routine patrol. We are here to ensure that all foreign nationals in Bali operate within the legal framework,” he stated during the launch at Niti Mandala Renon on Wednesday (April 15, 2026).

Immigration data shows that between January 1 and April 12, 2026, a total of 227 foreign nationals were subjected to enforcement actions. Of these, 165 individuals were deported, while 62 others were placed in detention for various immigration violations.

Authorities noted that the figures highlight ongoing challenges in managing foreign presence in Bali, a destination with high international mobility.

The Dharma Dewata task force will focus on key locations known for dense foreign activity, implementing active patrols and rapid response mechanisms to address violations more effectively.

In addition to enforcement, immigration officials are also strengthening preventive measures through the Petugas Imigrasi Pembina Desa (PIMPASA) program. This initiative involves local communities and village authorities in monitoring the presence and activities of foreign nationals in their areas.

The combined approach is expected to improve compliance while maintaining public order and legal certainty in Bali’s tourism sector.
