KLUNGKUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Authorities in Klungkung Regency have carried out surprise inspections on two villas in Nusa Lembongan after receiving public complaints regarding licensing and safety issues at the tourist accommodations.
The inspections were conducted by Klungkung Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and Fire and Rescue officials on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, targeting Villa Casa Bonita and Villa Ocean Blue in the Lembongan area of Nusa Penida District.
Klungkung Satpol PP and Fire Department Chief Dewa Putu Suwarbawa said the operation followed reports submitted by residents through the agency’s official social media channels.
“We have gone directly to the field to follow up on public reports. There are two main locations in the Lembongan area currently under close supervision, namely Villa Casa Bonita and Ocean Blue,” Suwarbawa said on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
During the inspection at Villa Casa Bonita, officials said the villa manager, identified as Ahmad, was unable to provide operational permit documents when requested.
According to Suwarbawa, the manager claimed the permits were being held by the property owner. However, after conducting checks through the official licensing database, authorities reportedly found no registered permits under the villa’s name or the owner’s identity.
Officials noted that the villa has reportedly been operating since March 2026.
The inspection later continued at Villa Ocean Blue, where representatives of the property owner were only able to show a Business Identification Number (NIB) and Spatial Utilization Conformity document (KKPR).
Authorities said other core operational permits required for tourism accommodation businesses could not be presented during the inspection.
In addition to permit concerns, inspectors also found that a retaining structure surrounding the villa’s swimming pool had partially collapsed, raising safety concerns for guests using the facility.
“This is very dangerous for tourists using the swimming pool facilities. Therefore, the team immediately issued an official order to fully stop activities in the pool area,” Suwarbawa said.
Officials also instructed the villa management to install warning signs around the affected area.
Klungkung authorities emphasized that tourism accommodation operators are required to obtain complete official permits before operating commercially.
Management representatives from both villas are scheduled to be summoned for clarification on Monday, May 18, 2026.
The inspections come amid broader efforts by the Klungkung Regency Government to tighten oversight of tourism businesses in Nusa Penida, including tax compliance monitoring involving hotels and restaurants across the island region.
According to local authorities, taxpayer compliance in Nusa Penida is currently estimated at around 67 percent, leaving a significant portion of potential regional tax revenue still uncollected.
