BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Authorities in Badung Regency have introduced new traffic management measures in Pecatu, South Kuta, in an effort to reduce congestion on routes leading to Bali’s popular Uluwatu tourism area.

The traffic engineering scheme took effect on Tuesday (2/6/2026) and is being implemented daily between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., the period when vehicle volumes typically increase due to tourist activity.

Under the new arrangement, several road access points have been restricted, particularly for four-wheeled vehicles.

Vehicles traveling from the Jalan Baler Setra–Jalan Belimbing Sari intersection toward the western section of Jalan Uluwatu are now limited to motorcycles only. In addition, vehicles traveling on Jalan Uluwatu are prohibited from turning into Jalan Toya Ning II, while traffic from Jalan Toya Ning II is no longer permitted to enter the western section of Jalan Uluwatu.

The restrictions apply only during the designated hours from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Head of the Badung Transportation Agency, Anak Agung Gede Rahmadi, said the policy was introduced to address recurring traffic congestion in Pecatu, particularly on roads leading to Uluwatu Temple and nearby tourist attractions.

“To reduce congestion so that both tourists and local residents can travel more comfortably, we are implementing this traffic engineering scheme,” Rahmadi said.

According to the agency, traffic officers will be stationed at several key intersections, including the Village Office intersection, Belimbing Sari intersection, Toya Ning intersection, Matsuka intersection, Nirmala intersection, and the Polytechnic intersection.

Officials explained that the restrictions are focused on afternoon and evening hours because traffic volumes generally remain manageable during the morning when residents are carrying out daily activities.

“Traffic increases significantly when residents and tourists travel to tourist attractions, watch the Kecak dance performance, and enjoy the sunset,” Rahmadi explained.

The Transportation Agency has urged motorists to follow the new traffic arrangements, noting that some routes may require slightly longer travel distances but are expected to reduce overall travel times.

“The route may be slightly longer, but the goal is to create smoother journeys so that residents and tourists can travel to Uluwatu more comfortably,” he added.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Badung Regency Government to improve mobility and visitor experience in one of Bali’s busiest tourism corridors.
