BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – The Badung Regency Government is preparing to expand traffic engineering measures to Berawa and Canggu, two of Bali’s busiest tourism areas, following the permanent implementation of similar schemes in Kerobokan Kelod and Seminyak.

The move comes as authorities respond to increasing congestion linked to rising tourism activity in North Kuta and surrounding areas.

Acting Head of Badung Transportation Agency, I Made Gede Wiryantara Adi Susandi, said the expansion is part of a broader effort to manage traffic flow in high-density zones.

“We will expand traffic engineering to Berawa and Canggu. There are still several congestion points that need further study,” he said on Friday (April 17).

He explained that the surge in tourism activity has significantly increased vehicle volume in both areas, leading to frequent traffic jams that affect not only visitors but also local residents.

“These areas are currently experiencing high tourism activity. We have received many complaints about congestion through official public channels, so this needs serious attention,” he added.

To ensure effective implementation, the Transportation Agency will collaborate with the Traffic and Road Transport Forum (LLAJ) to conduct in-depth studies and develop appropriate traffic management solutions.

Officials emphasized that traffic engineering is not merely about redirecting vehicles, but also aims to reduce congestion, minimize conflict points at intersections, and create a safer and more orderly traffic system.

With comprehensive planning, the government expects the policy to improve mobility for both residents and tourists while supporting the development of a more sustainable and high-quality tourism environment in Badung.
