BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Police in Badung Regency have intensified security measures in North Kuta, including Canggu, following repeated reports of theft and a recent nighttime disturbance that circulated on social media.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday night (May 2), highlighted ongoing concerns about public safety in one of Bali’s busiest tourism zones. Authorities say the area has also seen multiple cases involving foreign visitors becoming victims of theft.
Public Relations Officer of Badung Police, Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, stated on Monday (May 3) that conventional crimes such as theft remain the most common cases, particularly in tourist hotspots and nearby residential areas.
“The high mobility of both residents and tourists contributes to the vulnerability. Theft cases are still the most dominant in these areas,” she explained.
To address the situation, police have increased preventive efforts, including routine patrols, enhanced security presence at tourist attractions, and more frequent community outreach activities.
In beach areas where theft incidents involving tourists have been reported, officers are conducting both open and covert patrols. They are also engaging directly with visitors through on-site advisories.
“We regularly remind tourists to stay alert and keep an eye on their belongings,” Inastuti said.
Authorities are also working closely with beach operators, traditional village security (pecalang), and local businesses to strengthen coordination. Additional measures include encouraging the provision of secure storage facilities for visitors to reduce the risk of theft.
Alongside preventive actions, police continue to implement enforcement measures against offenders, supported by public awareness campaigns and increased signage in high-risk areas.
The Badung Police emphasized that a coordinated approach involving local stakeholders is key to maintaining safety and ensuring a comfortable environment for both residents and international visitors in Bali’s tourism centers.
