TABANAN, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali is preparing to host the Jatiluwih Fun Run 2026 on June 20 as part of early initiatives leading up to the island’s 100-year tourism milestone in 2027.
The event is a collaboration between the Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) Bali and the Bali Provincial Government, aimed at positioning the run as an international attraction rather than a local sporting event.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster emphasized that the event is designed to draw participants from outside Bali, including international runners and tourists.
“Jatiluwih running must focus on attracting tourists or runners from outside Bali. This needs to be encouraged. I believe participation could exceed initial targets, with 10,000 participants still possible,” he said on Wednesday (April 29).
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration with travel agencies to expand reach and increase visitor arrivals linked to the event.
According to Koster, strong coordination with tourism stakeholders will be key to maximizing participation and ensuring broader economic impact.
In addition to targeting high participation, the governor stressed the need for professional event management, particularly in terms of technical readiness and on-ground coordination.
“The event must be well-managed to ensure safety, order, and a high-quality experience for all participants,” he added.
Set against the backdrop of Jatiluwih’s UNESCO-listed rice terraces, the event is expected to offer both a recreational and cultural experience, aligning with Bali’s broader strategy to promote sustainable and experience-based tourism.
For international visitors, the event presents an opportunity to combine sports tourism with cultural exploration in one of Bali’s most iconic landscapes.
