TABANAN, DEWATA.NEWS – Homestay operators in Kelecung Eco Village, Tabanan, are being guided toward more professional service standards following a two-day hospitality training program held on April 9–10, 2026.

The initiative was organized by the Hospitality Management Study Program of Bali Tourism Polytechnic as part of its community service program, focusing on improving accommodation quality in village-based tourism destinations.

The training, titled “Homestay Management and Hospitality Service Training Based on Quality Standards,” aimed to help local accommodation providers transition from experience-based practices to more structured and standardized service systems.

Program coordinator Ni Made Suastini said the activity was designed not only to deliver knowledge but also to encourage practical changes in daily operations.

Participants received training on room service operations, hygiene and sanitation standards, and customer service skills. They were also encouraged to assess their current practices and compare them with established hospitality standards.

During the room service session, hospitality expert Dr. Dewa Ketut Sujatha emphasized the importance of consistency in delivering quality service.

“Service quality is reflected in small details carried out consistently. These often-overlooked details can define the overall guest experience,” he said.

Hygiene and sanitation were highlighted as fundamental aspects of homestay management. Trainer Ida Ayu Kalpikawati stressed that cleanliness plays a critical role in building guest trust.

“Cleanliness is the foundation of service. Without it, guest confidence is difficult to establish,” she explained.

In the customer service session, Ni Luh Ketut Sri Sulistyawati underlined the role of communication in shaping guest comfort.

“Communication is not only about delivering information, but also about creating a sense of comfort for guests,” she said.

From the village management perspective, Kelecung Eco Village head Putu Ayu Puspawardani welcomed the program, noting that it provides clearer direction for improving homestay services.

She added that the training introduced new insights into service standards that had not previously been applied consistently, and serves as a starting point for operational improvements.

The program also created an interactive platform between academics, practitioners, and the local community, allowing knowledge to be applied in a practical and relevant way.

Bali Tourism Polytechnic hopes the initiative will support the continued development of homestay management in Kelecung, strengthening the competitiveness of village-based tourism in Tabanan.
