GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Authorities in Ubud have intensified efforts to tackle chronic traffic congestion by cracking down on illegal parking along Jalan Raya Ubud, one of Bali’s busiest tourist corridors.
The operation, conducted on Tuesday (April 28), involved a joint team from Ubud Police, Gianyar Traffic Police, the Gianyar Transportation Agency, and local pecalang (traditional security officers). Officers enforced regulations using the electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE) system.
During the operation, authorities identified multiple vehicles parked improperly along the main road. A total of 15 vehicles were issued electronic fines, while 25 others received warning stickers as part of a stricter enforcement approach.
Ubud Police Chief, Kompol I Wayan Putra Antara, said the operation combined a firm enforcement strategy with a persuasive and educational approach. Officers also engaged directly with drivers to explain how illegal parking contributes to traffic congestion.
“One of the main causes of traffic congestion in Ubud is the use of road space for parking. Through this enforcement, we aim to improve traffic flow so that both tourists and local residents can move more comfortably,” he said.
Authorities also highlighted the importance of collaboration between police, local government, and traditional village security. Community awareness and compliance with traffic rules are seen as critical to long-term success.
He emphasized that the operation is not a one-time measure but part of a continuous effort to improve traffic conditions in Ubud, a key tourism area in Gianyar Regency.
“We will continue these operations regularly. Public support is essential to ensure order and safety for everyone,” he added.
For visitors, the move signals tighter parking enforcement in central Ubud, where road space is limited and traffic congestion remains a persistent challenge, especially during peak tourism periods.
