TABANAN, DEWATA.NEWS – Tourist visits to Bali’s popular Tanah Lot tourism destination have declined compared to last year, as economic pressures begin affecting travel spending among domestic and international visitors.
Although the iconic seaside temple destination in Tabanan Regency continues to attract thousands of visitors daily, management data shows average daily arrivals have decreased significantly.
According to the management of Tanah Lot Tourist Attraction (DTW Tanah Lot), average daily visits in May 2025 reached around 4,500 people. During the same period this year, the figure dropped to approximately 3,400 visitors per day.
Managers believe the decline is linked to broader economic conditions that are reducing consumer purchasing power, including for tourism and leisure activities.
The weakening value of the Indonesian rupiah and rising prices of essential goods are reportedly prompting some travelers to reduce holiday spending.
Despite the slowdown, Tanah Lot remains one of Bali’s most visited tourist attractions because of its coastal scenery, sunset views, and strong spiritual and cultural atmosphere.
Tanah Lot Operational Manager I Wayan Sudiana said management continues focusing on visitor comfort and service quality while preparing for the upcoming school holiday season.
According to him, additional personnel have already been deployed to several strategic areas, including ticketing points, security zones, and cleanliness operations around the tourism complex.
“Although there has been a decline in visitor numbers, we remain optimistic that tourist interest will increase again as economic conditions improve,” Sudiana said.
Management hopes the upcoming school holiday period will help boost visitor numbers again in the coming months.
